Francis Lawrence's Red Sparrow Starring Jennifer Lawrence Gets New Trailer and Poster

Francis Lawrence's Red Sparrow Starring Jennifer Lawrence Gets New Trailer and Poster

Jennifer Lawrence does her best 007 impression in this first official trailer for Red Sparrow, her new espionage thriller with Hunger Games 2 - 4 director Francis Lawrence. Following The Hunger Games, Red Sparrow sets out to cement Lawrence's place in the action genre after the actress has successfully become one of Hollywood's most sought after actresses.

The full Red Sparrow trailer builds on the wonderfully ominous teaser, this time detailing the backstory of Lawrence's character, Dominika Egorova. A prima ballerina whose ferocity has pushed her body and mind to the absolute limit.

"When we finish with you, the person you were will no longer exist", Dominika is told as she struggles to endure the pain of each specially trained exercise. The film also stars Joel Edgerton, Matthias Schoenaerts, Mary-Louise Parker, Ciaran Hinds, Charlotte Rampling and Jeremy Irons.

Based on a novel by Jason Matthews, "Red Sparrow" casts Ms. Lawrence as Dominika Egorova, a Russian ballerina forced to become a student at the Sparrow School, which trains young people to seduce and betray enemy operatives.

After completing the training process she becomes the most risky Sparrow the program has ever created.

The film is based on a 2013 novel of the same name by Jason Matthews, and revolves around a Russian woman (Lawrence) who is forced into the life of a "Sparrow", which essentially appears to be a secret agent/sleeper agent designed for exactly the kinds of missions you'd expect to involve a attractive young woman: Seducing generals, attending swanky soirees, occasional assassinations. Her response: "I'll find a way".

I just hope that she's allowed to show more emotion than Charlize Theron did in Atomic Blonde. Unfortunately, she does not have the money to pay for the care her mother needs.

A new trailer for the movie has now been released.
