'CBS This Morning' names John Dickerson co-host

John Dickerson, 49, will join "CBS This Morning" as a co-host on Wednesday, taking the hot seat alongside co-stars Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell, the network announced. CBS appointed Dickerson on the sixth anniversary of the morning show, which is in third place in the morning ratings but has made inroads with a newsy approach.

Dickerson, who's moderated the CBS show "Face The Nation" since 2015, will fill the anchor seat vacated by veteran newsman Charlie Rose.

Dickerson begins anchoring tomorrow, January 10, 2018, and will be based in NY.

USA television channel CBS announced today that its shamed millionaire news anchor, sacked for alleged sexual harassment, had been replaced by another man after its higher-rated rival appointed a woman.

"John's impressive track record and strong all-around journalism extends our commitment to real news coverage every morning at CBS News", Rhodes said in a statement. "Every time I've been on the show, I haven't wanted the conversation with Norah and Gayle to end when my segment does".

Dickerson is expected to continue his duties as Face the Nation moderator.

CBS journalist John Dickerson met comedian Stephen Colbert on the floor of the 2016 Republican National Convention for CBS's The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in Cleveland, Ohio. CBS THIS MORNING is in its closest competitive position with "Today" in at least three decades and in almost two decades.

Last week its "Today" show named Hoda Kotb as co-host, formally replacing Matt Lauer, who was sacked for what NBC called "inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace". Television year-to-date, CBS THIS MORNING is delivering CBS its second highest morning audience in three decades, surpassed only by 2016's election influenced performance.
