39 percent of Americans grade Trump's first year an 'F'

39 percent of Americans grade Trump's first year an 'F'

That's significantly different from an earlier AJC poll in January 2017, which found Georgia voters split in their views of Trump.

A new poll gave President Trump several pieces of bad news on Wednesday night: After the Trump first year, 39 percent of Americans would give his presidency a failing grade, while a large majority think he is dishonest, lacks leadership skills and is unfit to serve as president.

Another 7 percent say they should stay but not become citizens - while only 11 percent say they should get the boot.

These range from Nancy Pelosi demanding Mr. Trump be impeached, to the Democrats threatening to shut down the government if illegal aliens brought into our country as children are not given citizenship, to President Obama sitting on his high horse in another country disparaging our president. Poll takers called people at both landline and mobile phone numbers.

On the recently enacted Republican tax reform bill, voters disapprove of it, 52 to 32 percent.

Results from the poll also revealed that 37 per cent of voters feel Trump's policies were helping the economy, compared to the 29 per cent that said his policies were hurting the economy. When asked if Trump is honest, 63 percent said he is not.

The poll was conducted just after the release of Fire and Fury, the highly critical, tell-all book about Trump's first year in office, which depicts a chaotic White House and has been roundly denounced by the Trump administration.

Trump on Saturday sent a flurry of tweets in defense of his intelligence and fitness for office, wherein he brandished his personal successes to support his assertion that he's a "very stable genius".
