Tupac Shakur's Murder Weapon 'Was Found But Disappeared'

Here's what the document said: The document said: "A.40 caliber Glock was found by a citizen in his backyard in 1998 [.] which he reported to police". After ballistic testing, it was confirmed that the Glock was indeed the one used in the hip-hop star's murder.

According to a document that was dug up by the producers of A&E documentary Who Killed Tupac?

Compton Police Department records reportedly show the firearm was booked on May 30, 1998, but its alleged connection to Shakur not yet established. At the time, Brennan was working to uncover the death of Pac's rap nemesis Notorious B.I.G., whose murder was tightly connected to Pac's amid their vicious rap beef, and had been going through documents from Pac's case.

The Glock found in Compton was put through a ballistics test, and it matched the gun that killed Shakur, according to TMZ.

According to editors at the US gossip website, a federal prosecutor assigned to the case expressed concerns the discovery of the weapon might alert potential conspirators and issued a recommendation not to turn the gun over to the LVPD. Because of this, it was recommended that the gun should not be turned over to LVPD.

The documentary makers received mixed messages from Los Angeles Police, with some officers saying the gun never reached them and others stating they were unsure. To say that Mopreme was blown away by the claim would be an understatement, and, honestly, who can blame him?

The performer was gunned down on the Las Vegas Strip following a Mike Tyson fight on September 7, 1996, and would die from his injuries nearly a week later at Nevada hospital.

Tupac Shakur: The rapper's influence 20 years after his death IBTimes US. Though he's been gone for more than two decades, his life's work and presence is still just as evident, if not more wide-spread, than it was during his life.

It's now come to light that the murder weapon was found two years after his death, but subsequently went missing when it was handed from one police force to another. But his massive fan base will continue to keep his legacy alive and well, because, as they all know, though they may get their wings, true legends never die.
