Mom's boyfriend arrested in missing Jacksonville toddler case

Mom's boyfriend arrested in missing Jacksonville toddler case

32-year-old Earl Kimrey was taken into custody Friday.

The mother's live-in boyfriend has been arrested in connection with the girl's disappearance, authorities said Saturday morning, and Mariah is likely dead.

Mariah was last seen Sunday night, when her mother, Kristy Woods, said she put her to bed in their home in Jacksonville, near the Camp Lejeune military base.

Kimrey is charged with concealing of death, obstruction of justice, burglary, theft, and possessing stolen property.

He is being held on $1,010,000 bond. Authorities haven't said what led investigators to identify Kimrey as a suspect, but other charges could be coming.

Investigators said evidence gathered during the course of the investigation indicates Mariah is deceased. Among them are the FBI's Child Abduction Rapid Deployment team and Team Adam from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

"We had a total of 730 volunteers help us today", Miller said. "This is my world, this is my angel", she said. Family members said Kimrey lived in the home with Mariah and her mother; photos on Facebook show the pair together with Mariah.

The FBI says they have been sending "items of interest" to their lab in Quantico, Virginia, for priority testing in the case.

Searchers targeted a creek and a landfill in their effort to find a 3-year-old North Carolina girl missing since the start of the week. "Someone just walked right up in there, grabbed the 3-year-old out of the bed and she didn't cry, she didn't scream?"

Kimrey allegedly "failed to notify a law enforcement authority of the death of Mariah Woods, and secretly disposed of the dead child's body", according to the warrant. "Four people in the house, two adults and two kids, someone just comes up and snatches the baby and walks out?" She has been missing from her home since Monday.

Miller said authorities will look at anything found and decide whether they need to look in another area. Please just bring her back safe and sound - she's my baby, she's my everything'.

Mariah Woods is described as a white female with brown hair and blue eyes, about 2-foot-9 weighing about 30 pounds.

"The focus of this investigation has changed from a missing child to homicide case", Meador added.
