Melania Trump set to unveil White House Christmas decorations

Melania Trump set to unveil White House Christmas decorations

Melania Trump never had any interest in becoming First Lady, but she encouraged Donald Trump to run for president because she probably never expected that he would win, according to a new report in Vanity Fair.

"Once again part of the liberal media, this time Vanity Fair, has written a story riddled with unnamed sources and false assertions".

The profile goes on to recount her unusual approach to her new role as first lady, including a relatively sparse staff and her decision to remain in NY with son Barron for the first five months of her husband's presidency.

A longtime friend of Melania allegedly said to the organization that Melania didn't want to become the First Lady.

Former campaign adviser to President Trump, Roger Stone, told the magazine that Melania helped push her husband into the 2016 presidential race.

Count Melania Trump among those surprised that her husband won the presidency.

"I don't envy him", she continued.

A friend said she was unnerved by the constant watch of Secret Service agents and keen to keep her son, Barron, sheltered from the attention of his position.

Ivana previously told ABC News that she would be a great first lady if she was still married to Trump-but has no desire to live such a public lifestyle. "It's Donald's thing, '" Stone was quoted as saying.

It's customary for several White House staffers to visit the grand champion's tree farm to choose the official White House Christmas tree.

But Melania Trump is at least more popular than her husband, with 44 percent of respondents in a recent CNN poll holding a favorable view of her versus his approval rating of 41 percent. The anonymous pal added, "She didn't want this come hell or high water".

Since President Trump's presidential nomination, rumours have abounded about Ms Trump's apparent reluctance for the First Lady role.

This isn't the first time Trump has dealt with critique.
