Donald Trump Says He Should Have Left UCLA Players Jailed In China

Donald Trump Says He Should Have Left UCLA Players Jailed In China

"Now that the three basketball players are out of China and saved from years in jail, LaVar Ball, the father of LiAngelo, is unaccepting of what I did for his son and that shoplifting is no big deal".

"Who?" Ball told ESPN when asked about Trump's role in the trio's release.

"What was he over there for?"

"Everybody wants to make it seem like [Trump] helped me out", the elder Ball told ESPN on Friday. They went to jail, but were released on bail, which is something that apparently indicated the Chinese authorities were taking a rather chill approach to all of this to begin with.

Under Chinese law, the three players were facing years in prison for stealing sunglasses from a Versace store near the team's hotel prior to their regular season opener against Georgia Tech in Shanghai.

"Who?" LaVar Ball answered.

The players were arrested and questioned on November 7 about stealing from high-end stores, including sunglasses from a Louis Vuitton store next to the team's hotel in Hangzhou, where the Bruins had been staying before leaving for Shanghai to face Georgia Tech. Trump's Chief of Staff John Kelly told the Times the president was instrumental in their release, bringing it up with China's Xi Jinping.

LaVar Ball told ESPN that while he was pleased with how the situation in China was handled, he feels like it was overblown.

During a Wednesday press conference, the teenage players, themselves, issued apologies for their behavior and thanked everyone involved for helping to resolve the matter and bringing them home, including President Trump.

White House Director of Social Media and Assistant to the President Dan Scavino Jr.

In actual college basketball news, Ball, Hill and Riley have been indefinitely suspended from the team. It sure looks like race baiting to a lot of people.
