Donald Trump to Puerto Rico After Slamming Mayor

Donald Trump to Puerto Rico After Slamming Mayor

"Such poor leadership ability by the Mayor of San Juan, and others in Puerto Rico, who are not able to get their workers to help". Meanwhile Trump tweets from a golf course that the people of Puerto Rico want everything done for them. "We appreciate all the FEMA workers who are here, they're doing such a great job".

United States President Donald Trump continued his Twitter rampage against the "fake media", on Saturday.

Mr Trump used Twitter to accuse Ms Cruz of partisan politics. "The goal is one: saving lives. This is the time to show our "true colours". "This is a point where we can not look at small differences, we can not establish differences based on politics".

San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz has accused the Trump administration of "killing us with the inefficiency" after Hurricane Maria struck the island. "My daughter would be better", she said.

"I will do what I never thought I was going to do", she said Friday. "When you are drinking from a creek, it's not a good news story. Anything else is simply unacceptable and will result in further loss of life", said USCM President Mayor Mitch Landrieu (New Orleans, LA).

"Damn it, this is not a good-news story. This is, "there's a truckload of stuff that can not be taken to people" story".

"So I am done being polite", the mayor added, "I am done being politically correct".

"For me, it's really rewarding especially in the middle of the political turmoil we have in the country. I am mad as hell". "The great thing about democracy is that we get to elect who represents us every two or four years".

Trump says in tweets that the federal government has done "a great job with the nearly impossible situation".

"The only way for this to work is for us to have collaboration", Rossello said.

More than 3.4 million residents of Puerto Rico lack food, water, and fuel, there is no power in some regions and mobile connection is lost.

As NPR's Greg Allen and Marisa Penaloza have reported, many hospitals are still shut down.

Ms Cruz declined to engage in the tit-for-tat, instead calling for a united focus on the people who need help. Some communities are still flooded in parts.

Later on Saturday evening, Trump tweeted out a video featuring footage of U.S. troops assisting Puerto Ricans, overlaid with an audio clip of Rossello praising the Trump administration's response to the natural disaster.

It follows widespread criticism of his administration's response to the hurricane. Then we start a theme of recovery planning for the bright future that lies ahead for Puerto Rico.

Many were appalled by Trump's incredible lack of empathy and concern for the population of Puerto Rico - and Hollywood was certainly no different. "You're a congenital liar", he wrote in response to a third tweet from Trump, adding with a link to a donation site for a Latino nonprofit.
