Unruly behaviour won't be accepted: Aviation Minister

IndiGo Airlines, SpiceJet and Air India have as of Thursday barred TDP MP JC Diwakar Reddy from flying.

AirAsia India and Vistara said they fully supported the decision taken by the industry and that there has to be "zero tolerance" to abusive behaviour.

The latest controversy was also not Reddy's first time creating a ruckus at an airport, as a video had emerged in October previous year, of the MP manhandling employees at the Gannavaram Airport in Vijayawada.

The minister tweeted, "I will get the entire incident at Vizag Airport enquired to find out the exact details and ensure that lawful outcomes follow".

Responding Indigo said that it is now investigating the incident.

Two months ago, Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad sparked widespread criticism for assaulting an elderly Air India employee. He had entered the ticketing corner of IndiGo inside the airport and allegedly damaged some furniture and a printer.

Reddy was past year involved in a similar incident when he allegedly vandalised Air India office at Gannavaram airport in Vijayawada after he missed his flight.

Interestingly, the MP managed to board the flight but it was not clear who intervened to get him the boarding pass.

What makes it more controversial is the presence of Union aviation minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju in the same VVIP lounge where this incident happened. When he wasn't allowed to board he is said to have got violent and abusive with the airline staffer. The staff courteously informed the TDP leader and also offered to accommodate him in the subsequent flight.

With all the media exposing, along with evidences, the highhanded behaviour of Diwakar Reddy, Naidu conveyed to him that it would be better he tendered apology to the Indigo Airlines staff.

Earlier in the day, Raju refuted reports that he helped Reddy from getting a boarding pass.
