Mourinho tells Man Utd board to spend Ronaldo money on Neymar

Now at Manchester United, Mourinho led Los Blancos to the 2012 La Liga title in a three-year spell at the club.

The report adds that the Blues are willing to offer long-term Real Madrid target Eden Hazard in a player plus cash deal for the Portuguese sensation, a deal which will most probably be the biggest in history.

This news comes on the heels of reports of Cristiano Ronaldo saying he wants out of Real Madrid after being accused of defrauding the Spanish government of $16 million.

Mourinho and Ronaldo are among seven clients of Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes who have been investigated for possible tax fraud. Manchester United are believed to be front-runners in the race for the 4-time Ballon d'Or victor, while a stay at the Santiago Bernabeu hasn't been ruled out either.

The Sunday Mirror claims that the United manager has made his preference clear to Ed Woodward and has ordered the club to make a bid to Tottenham which they would struggle to reject. However, in a statement issued late Tuesday, he said he had not been officially informed of the development.

The PSG star has admitted to two counts of tax fraud during his four-year stint at Real Madrid. In fact, prison sentences of two years or less are usually suspended in Spain for those without prior infractions.

The state prosecutor's office in Madrid has intensified its pursuit of alleged tax fraud in football.

"To this date, neither the Spanish tax authorities, nor the public prosecutor have contacted Jose Mourinho or his advisers who were hired for the inspection process", the statement said.

Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo celebrates scoring their third goal against Juventus during their Uefa Champions League Final match at The National Stadium of Wales, Cardiff June 3, 2017.

In 2016, Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano received a one-year suspended prison sentence for tax fraud while Barca superstars Lionel Messi and Neymar are both now awaiting court decisions.
