Growing frenzy outside court as Cosby deliberations wear on

In closing statements, the prosecution portrayed the actor as a sexual predator who deliberately drugged 44-year-old Canadian Andrea Constand so she would be unable to resist his advances at his Philadelphia home. Cosby, 79, pleaded not guilty to three charges of aggravated indecent assault.

The seven-man, five-woman panel must reach a unanimous decision. They began deliberating Monday evening, continued all day Tuesday and resumed Wednesday morning. They are still ongoing at this time.

Jurors were also keenly focused on what Cosby said about the pills he gave to Constand before their encounter, asking for the second time in deliberations to revisit a portion of the deposition in which the comedian talked about giving Constand "three friends for you to make you relax".

Prosecutors called 12 witnesses over a week of testimony, but presented nearly no forensic evidence.

During a lunch break Tuesday, Wyatt appeared on the courthouse steps to tell a crowd of reporters and cameras about what a defense witness would have said in court - damaging to the credibility of Constand - had O'Neill not barred her testimony as hearsay.

If Cosby is found guilty, Pulliam said she would be "disappointed", adding, "I'm gonna have to just cross that bridge when I come to it". Constand has alleged that Cosby sexually assaulted her at his Philadelphia-area home in 2004. Each carries a maximum 10-year prison term, though the counts could be merged at sentencing if he is convicted. Some 60 women have come forward accusing Mr. Cosby of sexually violating them, but the statute of limitations for prosecution had run out in almost every case. Quaaludes were popular in the United States in the 1970s as a party drug but were banned in 1982.

In addition, Constand initially told police that she had not been alone with Cosby prior to the alleged assault and that they had little contact after. He took her silence as a "Yes", he said: "I don't hear her say anything. "Under questioning from Constand's lawyer taking the deposition, Cosby said: "No, I didn't say 'Go to sleep.'" Why are you putting words in my mouth?"

The jury, sequestered for the duration of the trial and unaware of the back-and-forth outside, reviewed the testimony of the police officer who took Constand's initial report.

He purchased a $250 hair dryer and encouraged her to change her hairstyle, Mr. Cosby said.

The AP does not typically identify people who say they are victims of sexual assault unless they grant permission, which Constand has done. It is suspected that Cosby may have given her a stronger pill, perhaps the Quaaludes which he had admitted to obtaining in the 70s with the intention of giving to women with whom he meant to have sex, according to the Associated Press. Mason's testimony indicated Constand reported being given three small blue pills that Cosby told her were herbal pills; Cosby later testified those pills were Benadryl.

In July 2015, a judge unsealed Cosby's deposition in that 2006 civil lawsuit.

In late 2014, dozens of women went public with accusations that Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted them over the course of his lengthy comedic career. In her statement on Facebook in April, Cosby's youngest daughter, Evin, admitted that "like many celebrities tempted by opportunity, he had his affairs, but that was between him and my mother".
