E3 2017 - Metroid: Samus Returns coming to Nintendo 3DS

During today's Nintendo Treehouse Live event at E3 2017, Nintendo unveiled a new Samus Aran and Metroid amiibo.

Nintendo would put its fingers in its ears and scream "LALALALALA" anytime fans mentioned the Metroid series over the last few years, but at Nintendo's E3 Spotlight, the Japanese publisher confirmed they were listening, after all. What are your thoughts on Metroid: Samus Returns?

Two of the composers from Super Metroid have returned to provide the music for this game, and fans who purchase the special edition of Metroid: Samus Returns will also get a soundtrack compilation featuring music from this title and previous Metroid adventures. The game looks very similar to the 2D Metroid games of the past, but that isn't bad at all. We're going to have another Metroid game- that's cause for celebration all by itself. If music isn't one's beat, then the pair of Samus Returns amiibo should make for nice bonuses to grab alongside the game as well. Like numerous other announcements during their show, nearly no hard details were shared.

For Metroid Prime 4, Nintendo didn't provide any information other than a logo set on a black backdrop and the fact that it is "currently in development for Nintendo Switch".

Metroid Prime: Samus Returns will launch on the Nintendo 3DS on September 15.

The trailer for the upcoming Metroid: Samus Returns, seems to feature various evolutionary stages of the Metroid species, from the classic, Facehugger inspired Metroid larvae to the Alpha, Gamma and Zeta stages of the alien creature. Similarly, she has appeared in other games like Super Smash Bros. and the Super Mario RPG because of her enormous popularity. We're hoping that the game turns out great. Next year is also looking good with first-party exclusives like new Yoshi and Kirby titles. Nintendo revealed more details on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild DLC, Xenoblade 2, and Fire Emblem Warriors as well. There are 40 total Metroids in different evolutions in the game for players to take down.
