Chris Soules called 911 before allegedly fleeing deadly crash scene

Chris Soules called 911 before allegedly fleeing deadly crash scene

Soules' bail has been set at $10,000 and that he has retained an attorney according to the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office.

According to a press release from the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office, Soules was arrested and charged with "leaving the scene of a fatality motor vehicle accident (a class D felony)".

Soules, who was portrayed as a wholesome country boy looking for love on season 19 of the ABC reality show, was behind the wheel of a pickup truck that rear-ended a tractor in northern Iowa near Aurora on Monday night, the Iowa State Patrol said. "Is anybody injured?" the dispatcher asks on the 911 call.

Now that the victim has been identified as 66-year-old Kenneth Mosher, on Tuesday, one of his in-laws spoke to People about the accident.

TMZ reports that Soules, who is from Arlington, Iowa, was driving the pickup truck.

The operator eventually tells Soules that law enforcement and an ambulance is on its way.

The former star of "The Bachelor" and one-time contestant of "The Bachelorette" was arrested on Tuesday following a fatal accident the previous evening.

"I can talk you through it if you are near the patient", the dispatcher continues.

A rep for Soules said the farmer was "devastated" to learn of Mosher's death, while Whitney Bischoff, his former fiancée that he met on "The Bachelor" told People, "This is a very sad situation".

"Duramax that left the scene of an accident on W45 just north of Aurora - I believe the name on the subject is going to be Chris Soules", the caller continued.

USA Today also added that Mosher lived on his family farm near the crash site and was taken to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein where he was pronounced dead.

Soules said there was blood coming out of the victim's mouth but he had a pulse.

In the six-minute 911 recording, Soules can be heard talking with others as he tells dispatchers where the accident occurred. "His thoughts and prayers and with Mr. Mosher's family".

The investigation will reportedly take two weeks to a month to complete, and until then, it's unclear whether Soules will be charged with vehicular manslaughter. Meanwhile, Mr. Soules's automobile went into a different ditch, luckily he was not hurt in the accident and he left the scene before deputies reached the place of the vehicle crash.

As Crime Online previously reported, Soules has three previous alcohol-related arrests, most recently in 2005, when he served 60 days in jail and one year of probation for driving under the influence.
